Roundtable on Sustainability at Centre Pompidou
2026 · Partners: Angelina Usanova Foundation, Centre Pompidou
THE QUESTION
How can European museums move beyond sustainability statements and compare what is actually working—in their buildings, exhibitions, operations, and relationships with audiences?
WHAT WE DID
We conceived, organised, and moderated an international roundtable at Centre Pompidou, bringing together 35 museum leaders and sustainability experts from across Europe. Keynotes, institutional case studies, and collective scenario-building moved the conversation from policy to practical action.
WHAT THEY WALKED AWAY WITH
We produced and distributed Sustainability in Museums: A Call to Action—a report capturing the strategies, provocations, and shared conclusions from the day. It distilled four priorities: measure and reduce museums’ environmental impact, use storytelling to make change tangible, build alliances beyond the cultural sector, and embed sustainability throughout institutional decision-making.
